The Graduate Outcomes (GOs) of the
Mechanical Engineering program are the foundational building blocks through
which graduates progressively develop the competencies required to attain the
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) within 3–5 years of graduation. While the
PEOs describe the broad professional attributes expected of graduates in their
careers, the GOs define the specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors that
students must demonstrate at the time of graduation effectively serving as the
measurable stepping stones toward each PEO. PEO-1 (Successful
Professionals): Prepare graduates who apply mechanical engineering knowledge
and practical skills to succeed in engineering and related fields, supporting
Iraq’s industry, energy, and infrastructure sectors. PEO-2 (Ethics,
Standards, and Service to Society): Prepare graduates who uphold professional
ethics and engineering standards, make responsible decisions for safety,
sustainability, and public welfare, and contribute to society. PEO-3 (Leadership,
Communication, and Collaboration): Prepare graduates who lead multidisciplinary
teams, manage projects under real-world constraints, and communicate technical
ideas effectively in oral and written forms. PEO-4 (Lifelong
Learning): Prepare graduates who pursue continuous professional development,
stay current with technological advances, and contribute to research and
innovation.
PEO-5 (Postgraduate
Studies and Advanced Development): Prepare graduates who pursue advanced
postgraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering and related fields, contributing
to research, knowledge, and engineering education in Iraq and the region. Table:Consistency of PEOs with the Department Mission PEO University

Mission Consistent PEO-1
(Successful Professionals) "…enhance
students' skills, and develop their capabilities so they become able to
compete in the labor market." "…offering
high-quality academic programs in various fields of engineering…keeping pace
with modern technological progress…" "Graduate
mechanical engineers for achieving the requirements of industry, construction
and other sectors of mechanical engineering." ✔ PEO-2
(Ethics, Standards, and Service to Society) "Commitment
to the ethics and values of academic work, pride in national identity, and
respect for cultural diversity." "Utilizing
scientific research to address national development challenges and contribute
to community development." "Graduating
highly qualified ethical mechanical engineers…Building leadership
skills…ethical, and professionalism at work." ✔ PEO-3
(Leadership, Communication, and Collaboration) "…achieve
the goals of leadership and sustainability…enhance students' skills, and
develop their capabilities…" "…preparation
of engineers and future leaders in various engineering disciplines in line
with economic developments and labor market needs in Iraq." "Building
leadership skills in its graduates through teaching problem solving,
teamwork, quality considerations, ethical, and professionalism at work." ✔ PEO-4
(Lifelong Learning) "Achieving
leadership and excellence in academic programs and continuously updating them
according to quality standards and labor market requirements." "…leading
innovative research, keeping pace with modern technological progress…" "Instilling
in graduates the spirit and commitment for continuous acquiring of knowledge
and community service. Contributing ideas of projects and carrying out
research for the benefit and development of the community." ✔ PEO-5
(Postgraduate Studies and Advanced Development) "Pursuing
institutional accreditation and good governance…Strengthening cooperation and
partnerships with local, regional, and international academic and research
institutions." "…leading
innovative research…contributing to the development and advancement of
engineering knowledge…" "Establishing
viable applied research that generates knowledge for local and foreign
markets. Improving the academic abilities of the faculty and high skillness
of the staff." ✔ Selected Graduated Outcomes Students of the Mechanical Engineering program will attain
(by the time of graduation): 1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve mechanical engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 2. An ability to apply the mechanical engineering design process to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration for public health and safety and global, cultural, social, environmental, economic, and other factors as appropriate to the discipline. 3. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate mechanical experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions. 4. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences. 5. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in mechanical engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of mechanical engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts. 6. An ability to recognize the ongoing need to acquire new knowledge in mechanical engineering, to choose appropriate learning strategies, and to apply this knowledge. 7. An ability to function effectively as a member or leader of a team that establishes goals, plans tasks, meets deadlines, and creates a collaborative and inclusive environment.
