The Master's thesis defense of the student (Amar Khamees Shakir) took place today, Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, regarding his study titled:
"Enhancement of Forced Convection Heat Transfer in a Tube
Using Triangular Y-Shape Cut Twisted Strip Inserts"
The goal of the study is to improve heat transfer efficiency in
cooling and heating systems, leading to enhanced thermal performance while
reducing energy consumption. The main objectives can be summarized as follows:
Improvement of heat transfer
Reduction of flow resistance
Thermal performance analysis
Fluid flow and vortex analysis: Studying how the design affects the
fluid flow dynamics and the extent of thermal layer mixing to enhance heat
transfer.
Enhancement of energy system efficiency: This study can be applied
to renewable energy systems such as solar collectors or heat exchangers,
helping to increase their efficiency and reduce fuel or electricity
consumption.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Aqeel Abdullah Mohammed, with Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Mahmoud as a member, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Hashem Faleh from the College of Engineering at Al-Mustansiriya University, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ansam Adel Mohammed.
