The Department of Biomedical Engineering, under the patronage of the esteemed President of the University of Nahrein, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Aziz Al-Shawi, and under the direct supervision of the honorable Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, in collaboration with the Women's Empowerment Unit in the College of Engineering, conducted an on-site workshop titled "Electronic Harassment." The workshop took place on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in the Council Hall of the Biomedical Engineering Department.

The workshop covered several key topics, including an introduction to a new type of harassment that has begun to infiltrate Iraqi society, namely electronic harassment. It addressed the methods employed by harassers in pursuing victims and provided guidance on how victims can respond appropriately in such situations. The workshop also focused on ways to protect individuals and their families from being targeted by unscrupulous individuals through social media platforms and electronic applications.

Additionally, the workshop delved into how Iraqi law deals with cases of harassment and electronic extortion. It provided insights into how victims can gather evidence, report harassment and extortion cases to authorities, and legally pursue the perpetrators. The workshop concluded by recommending the dissemination of awareness among university students to caution them and outlining mechanisms to protect them from online harassment. It emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for students that ensures protection, safety, confidentiality, and privacy when filing complaints and breaking the silence surrounding these issues.
