The Department of Biomedical Engineering, under the auspices of the honorable University President, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Azez Al-Shawi, and under the direct supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, organized an awareness seminar titled 'Eliminating Violence Against Women.' The seminar was part of the activities of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign and was held in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit.

The seminar, conducted by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qais Hashem, addressed the role of women in society as mothers, wives, employees, and educators. It highlighted the challenges they face, including societal norms and traditions that sometimes hinder their progress. The event took place in the council hall of the Department of Biomedical Engineering on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, and was attended by a number of faculty members and female graduate students from the department.
