The Department of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific visit for fourth-year students to the thermal power station, accompanied by the head of the department and several faculty members. The students were briefed on the nature of the station's work, as it falls within the department's specialization. The station operates on steam power, which is converted into mechanical energy through turbines and then into electrical energy. This station is one of the important power stations in generating electricity in Baghdad, established in 1965 and gradually developed in subsequent decades.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the students with the operation of traditional power stations that use crude oil as fuel, the level of pollution caused by the station, and to compare it with the ongoing development towards using clean energy sources, such as solar energy, biomass energy, wind energy, and other alternative sources for electricity generation.
