Contribution to the establishment of English language proficiency test centers (IELTS) at the College of Engineering

Assistant Professor Dr. Sufyan Mubthir Saleh, from the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Al-Nahrain, participated in the initiative to open English language proficiency test centers (IELTS) in Iraq. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The efforts were led by the Vice Minister of Higher Education for Research Affairs, and the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad.

 

As part of the initiative, Engineer Haider Ali, the educational advisor for the British institution UNIHOUSE, which specializes in managing English language tests and training programs, visited Iraq. The visit included Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Alaa Hussein, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, and a team from the multimedia language laboratory.

 

During the visit, the team inspected the proposed building for establishing the center. A mini-meeting was held, welcoming the collaboration with the joint working team and the College of Engineering's Continuing Education Unit. The Assistant Dean emphasized the significance of this step in enhancing the quality of higher education in Iraq.

 

Engineer Haider Ali delivered an introductory lecture during which he provided some observations, highlighted important elements to be addressed, and concluded with recommendations supporting postgraduate studies at the university in general and the College of Engineering in particular.
