The patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, and under the direct supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Operations Department, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, a seminar was held on the occasion of the International Day of Prosthetics. This event took place on Thursday, November 9, 2023. The seminar was attended by the Head of the Prosthetics and Supports Engineering Department, representing the University of Al-Nahrain, as well as the President of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Mowaffaq Al-Khafaji, and a representative from the International Red Cross, along with representatives from relevant ministries and civil society organizations. In addition, several experts in the field of prosthetics were present.
 
The seminar began with a speech by the Director of the Emergency Medical Services Operations Department, delivered on his behalf by Deputy Director Dr. Abdul-Nasser Kamel Ibrahim. He emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Health's role in providing prosthetics and supporting people with disabilities through its centers spread across Iraq. Mr. Mowaffaq Al-Khafaji, the President of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, praised the ministry's efforts in organizing such seminars aimed at improving services and highlighting the most important obstacles and overcoming them in collaboration with international organizations and relevant ministries.
 
The seminar included a historical presentation on the prosthetics industry and its stages of development, as well as some recommendations aimed at enhancing and better developing the prosthetics industry, with the aim of adopting them in the future.
