ABSTRACT

This thesis was concerned with conducting multiple studies that included investigatory the site by researching different criteria in different ways such as the geomorphological impact on the city and its future growth, spatial sustainability of the site. The relationship of the case study site with the location of other airports with their various functions was studied, and the need, demand, and necessity for establishing an airport in the city of AL-Kut was studied. Analytical studies were also conducted for the topography of the airport, the direction of the prevailing winds and their distribution by analyzing them according to the wind rose, As well as the analysis of the Master Plan and comparing it with the ideal functions of international airports, and an engineering analysis was conducted for the parts related to the movement of aircraft. The results showed that the site meets the standards required to be used as an international airport and there are advantages in reusing the same site for the required function, and there is a need and necessity that justifies the establishment of an airport in the city of AL-Kut.
