Lecturer and Master Student from Chemical
Engineering Department publish research in an international journal Assistant
Professor Yasser I. Abdul-Aziz and Master student Mena M.Nabeel Aljumaili
in the Chemical Engineering Department of Al-Nahrain University published
research entitled: High surface area peat moss
biochar and its potential for Chromium metal adsorption from aqueous solutions in the
journal, South African
Journal of Chemical Engineering which
is located in the Scopus database with a rating of (Q1) and an impact site
score 6.8 The research focuses on developing activated carbon with a
high surface area from peat moss precursors using phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as a
chemical activator. The prepared activated carbon was then used for the
adsorption of Chromium (Cr+2) heavy metal ions from wastewater. The best BET
surface area was 1692.59 m2/g. As well as the maximum adsorption capacity was
493.3 mg/g To
