Today, at the College of Engineering – University of Al-Nahrain, and specifically within the Department of Chemical Engineering, a preliminary review session was held to discuss the department’s readiness for obtaining Program Accreditation. The session included a comprehensive audit and review of the accreditation files through a virtual (remote) visit conducted by the Central Program Accreditation Committee.
The visit was conducted under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ayad Murad Takhakh, and attended by the College Program Accreditation Officer, Prof. Dr. Ali Sabri Abbas; the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Venus Majeed Hameed; and the Departmental Program Accreditation Committee Officer, Assistant Lecturer Nada Diaa Ali.
This preliminary session comes as part of the department’s continuous efforts to advance the quality of the educational process and to ensure that its academic outcomes are aligned with the nationally approved standards for the program accreditation. Obtaining accreditation represents a strategic step that reflects the department’s commitment to implementing comprehensive quality standards in curricula, teaching methodologies, infrastructure, and faculty competence.
Program accreditation also strengthens the confidence of students and the labor market in the quality and competence of the department’s graduates by ensuring they possess the scientific and practical skills that keep pace with modern developments in chemical engineering. Furthermore, it grants the department a distinguished academic standing and opens broader horizons for scientific collaboration at both local and international levels. This pathway represents an important step toward achieving sustainable academic excellence and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the department, positively enhancing the reputation of both the College and the University.
