The Master’s thesis defense of student Banin Nabeel Aboud was held at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University, on Monday, 29/12/2025, for her thesis entitled: “A Virtual Surgical Planning and Patient-Specific Instruments for Correcting Lower Limb Deformities.” The examination committee consisted of the following members: Dr. Hadeel Qasim Wadi – Chairperson Dr. Ameer Farid Barto – Member Dr. Rana Ibrahim Mahmoud – Member Dr. Aseel Mohammed Ali Hussein – Member and Supervisor Dr. Waleed Abdulhassan Abdulwahid – Member and Supervisor This study aims to employ virtual surgical planning techniques and patient-specific instruments (PSIs) to correct lower limb deformities by constructing accurate three-dimensional digital models based on radiological data and detailed analysis. This approach contributes to improving surgical planning accuracy, reducing errors, and enhancing clinical outcomes. The results of the study demonstrated high efficiency of the proposed system, providing advanced accuracy in simulating surgical procedures and designing customized instruments for each individual case. This enhances the effectiveness of surgical intervention and contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. The thesis was accepted for fulfilling the requirements for the Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
