As part of efforts to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange expertise between academic institutions and government bodies, Assistant Lecturer Nours Hussein Abdullah visited the Ministry of Transport / Planning and Follow-up Directorate – Research and Studies Department on Wednesday, 31/12/2025, where he delivered a specialized scientific lecture entitled:

“Towards a Smart Iraqi Sky: A Strategic Study on Employing Artificial Intelligence in the Development of the Air Transport Sector in Iraq.”

The lecture addressed the strategic dimensions of applying artificial intelligence technologies in the air transport sector, highlighting their role in improving operational efficiency, enhancing aviation safety, supporting decision-making systems, and keeping pace with digital transformation and technological innovation, in line with modern global trends in airport management and civil aviation.

The lecture was attended by a number of specialists, researchers, and professionals interested in planning and technological affairs, and it contributed to opening constructive scientific discussions on mechanisms for leveraging artificial intelligence to support sustainable development and strengthen the institutional framework of Iraq’s air transport sector.

This participation comes within the broader efforts aimed at linking scientific research with practical applications, enhancing the role of academic expertise in supporting state institutions, and contributing to the development of national policies and strategic directions related to digital transformation and smart transportation.
