The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, conducted the comprehensive written examination for PhD students for the current academic year, as part of fulfilling the requirements for obtaining the PhD degree in accordance with the regulations approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The examination was held under the direct supervision of the Head of the Comprehensive Examination Committee, Professor Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdulsahib, esteemed Emeritus Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, along with the members of the Comprehensive Examination Committee. The examination covered both general and specialized core subjects, ensuring the assessment of students’ scientific and research competencies and measuring their readiness to proceed to the dissertation proposal stage.

The comprehensive examination is considered a major academic milestone within postgraduate study requirements, due to its role in strengthening academic rigor and enhancing the competence of student researchers. The questions were designed to cover essential knowledge areas in biomedical engineering and its various branches and specializations, including biomedical devices, biomechanics, biomaterials, medical imaging, medical materials, medical artificial intelligence, biosensors, and biomedical signal processing.

The committee also commended the students for their discipline and commitment to the examination guidelines. The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University continues its academic approach in supporting scientific research by developing postgraduate programs and providing a solid educational and research environment that contributes to preparing specialized personnel who meet the needs of the labor market and the healthcare sector.
