The Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, held an expert committee meeting this afternoon, attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ayad Murad Takhakh, members of the department council, and several specialized professors and representatives from academic institutions, including:

This is with the aim of enhancing the quality of the academic program and updating the curricula to align with engineering accreditation standards and labor market requirements.


The meeting opened with a speech from the preparatory committee, which welcomed the committee members and emphasized the importance of this meeting in developing the department's performance and updating its study programs. The committee also reviewed the role of the expert committee in the evaluation and review process and presented the key topics to be discussed during the session.


In the academic program review section, attendees discussed the department's vision and mission, and reviewed the program's learning objectives (PEOs) and their alignment with modern trends in engineering education. The learning outcomes (PLOs) were also reviewed, and their conformity with local and international standards was assessed.


The curriculum discussion section included a comprehensive review of course descriptions and mechanisms for updating them. Examples of formative assessment methods and examinations used in various courses were also presented, aiming to enhance student performance and develop their practical and theoretical skills.


The meeting addressed the evaluation of learning outcomes by analyzing the extent to which outcomes were achieved based on available data. Areas requiring improvement were discussed to enhance the quality of the educational process and improve the efficiency of the department's graduates.


In the development proposals section, committee members presented several suggestions for updating the curriculum and developing practical materials, as well as strengthening the practical training and application aspects for students to align with labor market needs and rapid technological advancements.


The meeting concluded with a set of final recommendations outlining future steps for implementing the proposed improvements and emphasizing the importance of ongoing communication between the department and the job market to ensure its graduates meet professional demands.


This marked the end of the meeting, which represented a significant step towards modernizing academic programs and enhancing the quality of education in the Computer Engineering Department at Al-Nahrain University.
