With the endorsement of the College of Engineering Deanship and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department of Architecture, Al-Nahrain University's Department of Architecture played a pivotal role in the Arab Architecture Festival 2025, titled "Hear Baghdad."
The festival was held in Baghdad under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and in active partnership with the International Tamayouz Awards Foundation.
The Department's contributions were substantial and diverse:
1. Student Accommodation and Support: The Deanship of the College of Engineering, led by Professor Dr. Ayad Murad Takhakh, and the Presidency of Al-Nahrain University provided essential support by securing accommodation for students traveling from three Iraqi governorates: Basra, Wasit, and Mosul.
2. Strategic Planning and Development: The Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Haitham Abdul-Hussein Al-Shammari, participated in initial discussions and electronic meetings with the Tamayouz Awards Foundation regarding site selection for the development and revitalization of urban spaces in Old Rusafa.
3. Participation of the Head of Department (Dr. Haitham Abdul-Hussein Al-Shammari) in the first dialogue session (as a speaker).
4. Key Liaison Appointment: Dr. Rasha Abdul Karim, a lecturer in the Department, was selected as the official liaison member, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the Department and the organizers.
5. Workshop Coordination: Dr. Rasha Abdul Karim was further appointed as the General Coordinator for the Tamayouz Workshop, overseeing collaboration with all architecture departments across Iraq.
6. The dialogue session on architectural education was managed by the esteemed Professor Dr. Saba Sami.
7.Volunteer Support: A group of our students, proficient in English, volunteered their time to actively contribute to the festival's success by providing essential guidance and hospitality to the distinguished visitors.
8.Design Participation: A number of the Department's students participated in the Tamayouz Awards workshops (themed: "Urban Luxury is a Necessity"), collaborating with other student teams to present several outstanding design proposals.
The Department of Architecture is proud to confirm that these efforts were highly successful, fruitful, and met with great reception and appreciation from the Tamayouz Awards Foundation, the festival organizers, and all attendees.
