In the framework of strengthening the applied aspects and integration between theoretical and field aspects, the Department of Architecture of Nahrin University, with
the generous sponsorship of the Honorable Faculty of Engineering, and direct supervision from the Chairperson of the Honorable Department of Architectural Engineering, organized a field scientific visit to the graduate students (Masters), within the requirements of the curriculum of Architectural and Urban Design for the semester The first, dedicated to Sustainable design project for curfew markets.
Co-supervise this scientific visit everyone:
• Professor Dr. Shaima Hamid Hussein
• Professor Dr. Muhammad Qasim Abdul Ghafour
During the visit, the direction was made to the study area located within the traditional urban context of Rusafa city, in order to analyze the urban, environmental and social reality of the site. This includes documenting the current state of buildings with their various traditional and modern styles, identifying prominent architectural figures, as well as studying the urban textures and spatial relationships between public and private spaces.
The visit also included conducting field observations and direct interviews with the residents of the area and their supporters, to understand the nature of daily life, economic and social factors influencing it, and identifying strengths and weaknesses within the general urban context.
Supervisory professors sought to guide students towards methodological scientific analysis based on field data and realistic observations, enabling them to formulate sustainable design strategies that enhance the quality of the urban environment and contribute to the achievement of a balanced urban development.
This visit goes to:
• Developing the capacities of students in urban and sustainable architectural analysis.
• Connecting theoretical concepts with practical application.
• Stimulating critical thinking in sustainability and urban transformation issues.
• Contribute to a clear and comprehensive design vision for the future that addresses challenges and invests opportunities available in the thoughtful area.
Thus this visit is an integral part of the learning process, providing an integrated field scientific experience that contributes to building advanced architectural and urban awareness among students, which enables them to produce contemporary design solutions that take into account local identity and sustainability principles.
