On Sunday, 7/9/2025, the master’s student Safaa Aboud Kazem defended his thesis at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, entitled:
“Vibroarthrographical Analysis of Knee Joint Functionality” The examining committee consisted of: Asst. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Jaafar Abbas – Chairman (College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University) Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasser Yaarub Qahtan – Member (College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University) Dr. Mahmoud Shihab Wahab – Member (Arab Board of Health Specializations) Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassanain Ali Lafta – Member and Supervisor (College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University) The thesis was scientifically evaluated by: Prof. Dr. Hussam Kazem Abdulameer – Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering / University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Sattar Mohammed – College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University It was linguistically evaluated by: Asst. Prof. Dr. Safaa Laith Kilan – College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University This study aims to develop and assess a comprehensive sensor-based system for analyzing knee joint motion and functionality. The system is designed to detect osteoarthritis (OA) at various stages while considering different age groups of patients. It also provides a quantitative and non-invasive analysis of dynamic motor activities, bridging the gap between clinical diagnosis and functional performance assessment. The results demonstrated high efficiency, confirming the feasibility of integrating mechanical, muscular, and physiological signals in diagnosing knee osteoarthritis disorders.
The thesis was accepted as it fulfilled the requirements for obtaining a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
