The Department of Architecture – College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University hosted the public defense of the master’s student Mustafa Saadi Abdulmuhsin for his thesis entitled:
“Hisroricism in architecture”
on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Department of Architecture’s hall.
The essential aim of the thesis is to understand the concept of historicity, its relationship to architecture, and its impact on shaping societies with a firm identity. It also aims to develop clear architectural intellectual frameworks that embrace historicism to achieve futurism.
The most important conclusion drawn from the research is its clarification of the pivotal role of architectural historicism in formulating a contemporary architectural identity based on collective memory and confronting cultural fragmentation. Thus, the research presents an intellectual and cognitive strategy capable of guiding architectural practices toward a balanced vision of the future between the past, present, and future.

After the scientific discussion and deliberation by the committee members, and upon reviewing the student’s defense and evaluation of the thesis, the student was awarded the Master’s degree in Architecture.
