Under the esteemed patronage of the Deanery of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University and the respected supervision of the Department of Architecture, and within the framework of strengthening academic cooperation with state institutions, the Department of Architecture participated in the scientific symposium held at the Bayt Al-Hikma on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the passing of the pioneering Iraqi architect Mohamed Saleh Makiya (may he rest in peace).
Dr. Zahraa Mohammed Musa, a faculty member in the department, presented a research paper entitled “Iraqi Architectural Identity During the British Mandate.”
In her paper, she explored the most prominent architectural characteristics that distinguished buildings of the royal era, shedding light on the role of British colonialism in shaping and formulating a uniquely Iraqi architectural identity during that period.
