The Department of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific visit for fourth-year students to the Oil Research and Development Center on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Accompanying the students were the department head and a select group of faculty members. During the visit, they toured the Catalysts Department, the Fat Department, and the Oil Processing Units. The center's staff provided detailed explanations of all the equipment and how to use it, and they were also informed about the additives used in fats and the testing methods with modern devices. Additionally, they learned about ongoing research in the field of catalysts used in the gasoline upgrading unit, as well as how to use fluidized bed reactors, fixed bed reactors, and hydrogenation reactors. At the end of the visit, they met with the General Director of the center, who confirmed the center's readiness to support the department financially through scientific research that serves this important sector, including research on pollution and renewable energy. It is worth noting that the Department of Chemical Engineering aims, through multiple scientific visits, to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience, enabling graduates to acquire essential scientific skills and be prepared to serve both the public and private sectors.
