Development of medical imaging devices in a scientific workshop at the College of Engineering and their use to enhance curricula and connect them to the job market

Under the gracious patronage of Professor Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of the Tigris, a scientific workshop was held in the laboratories of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering. The workshop was titled "Developments in Medical Imaging Devices and Their Use to Enhance Curricula and Link them to the Job Market."

The workshop spanned three days, during which participants provided detailed explanations about medical imaging devices and their connection to the job market. The agenda included:

  • On the first day, a review of the latest developments in Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • The second day featured a review of the latest developments in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) devices used in advanced imaging for detecting tumors, heart diseases, and brain disorders.
  • The third day covered the latest developments in Linear Accelerator devices and Brachytherapy.

Participants in the workshop included graduates from the department working in the Ministry of Health, employees from the Ministry of Health, and students from various universities in Iraq.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participants. The Dean of the College of Engineering commended the efforts of the Biomedical Engineering Department, including its leadership, professors, and laboratory staff, in organizing and successfully conducting such workshops to assist graduates and students in dealing with the job market.
