Head of Department Duties

• Achieving the highest goals and policies at the university. Implement the decisions of the College Council regarding the department.
• Supervising the preparation of the department’s strategic plan and following up on its implementation.
• Supervising the administration of the educational, research, administrative, financial and cultural affairs.
• Supervising the development of the department administratively, academically and researchally.
• To perform the teaching task assigned to him for each semester.
• Monitoring the attendance of students and conducting examinations for theoretical and practical courses.
• Coordinating and developing departmental relations within and outside the university.
• Supervise the provision of all the requirements of the educational, research, administrative and financial.
• Oversee the upgrading of quality and the development of its outputs
• Implementing and following up the decisions of the department council. To carry out the delegated powers of the Dean of the College.
• Conduct periodic review and evaluation to develop the curricula of the scientific and academic section and present them to the College Council.
• Hosting external lecturers to give lectures on specific subjects to students of preliminary and higher studies.
• Supervising the conduct of the teaching and teaching methods and the performance of the members of the faculty duties.
• Preparing quarterly and annual scientific reports on scientific activities.
• Presentation of research on scientific committees for the purposes of promotion and promotion.
• Distribution of students on training sites and distribution of supervision among the department’s employees and issuance of the necessary administrative orders.
• Propose issuing special administrative orders.
• Supervising the scientific affairs of students for the various stages of study.
• Proposal of experts to consider the scientific promotions for the teaching of the department.
• Assign any of the teaching staff to carry out the teaching tasks as needed, regardless of the ceiling specified by the higher authorities.
• Approval of faculty members to give lectures in the teaching or study programs of other departments.
• Approval of nomination of faculty members to participate in technical, administrative and scientific committees.
• Directing the faculty members in case they are absent or delayed from entering the lectures and questioning them.
• To access the scientific departments in the university and the corresponding scientific departments in the other Iraqi universities and the technical institutes in relation to scientific and teaching matters or to select the lecturers and obtain the necessary approval to benefit from
• Distribute the lessons to the faculty members in the scientific section.
• A meeting of students and students of the department at least once per semester to find out their needs, problems and difficulties during their academic career at the university and listen to their suggestions and opinions and find the necessary solutions and make recommendations to the Dean of the Faculty if necessary.
• Preparing the reports of the performance calendar for the faculty and administrative staff members in his department and submitting it to the Dean of the College
• Supervising the process of academic guidance in the department and distributing students to faculty members.
• Conducting material equations for students moving from other disciplines or from another university.
• Supervise the work of laboratories, workshops and technical workshops and ensure the validity of the devices
• Approve the granting of regular leave by university employees based on the University Service Law No. 23 of 2008.
• Recommending thanks and appreciation letters to the department’s employees for outstanding performance.
• The distribution of duties to the members of the department or branch in accordance with what is dictated by the interest of the scientific department and the issuance of administrative orders.
• Inviting the department’s board to meet in extraordinary sessions when necessary.
• Recommending the issuance of dismissal decisions due to absenteeism to those who exceed the permitted percentage of the students of the department according to the instructions in force.
• Issuing orders of alert and failure of students in absentia or when they fail and violate regulations and instructions
• Issuing the administrative orders for lecturing by the associate or external lecturers (in coordination with the Deanship of the College) and opening the records or the relevant forms with their audit according to the administrative orders issued
