Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ayad Murad Takhakh, The UAV Engineering Department held a workshop entitled:

Empowering the UAVs: The Future of Flight with 5G, Edge Computing and IoT Technology.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Ahmed Jumaa Lafteh, took place on Monday, April 27, 2026, in the Drone Engineering Department auditorium.

The workshop addressed the latest developments in the field of drones, focusing on the role of 5G, Edge Computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in enhancing the efficiency and performance of modern flight systems and integrating them with smart communication systems.

The workshop also included a proposal to establish a specialized laboratory for drone technology related to modern communications, the Internet of Things, and 5G technologies. This laboratory would contribute to supporting scientific research and developing students' practical skills.

Recommendations:

Establish a specialized laboratory for UAV, IoT, and 5G technologies.

Support applied research projects in the field of drones. Strengthening cooperation with industry and telecommunications entities.

Developing educational curricula that keep pace with modern technological advancements.
