Students of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering Department at Al-Nahrain University Organize the First AI Developers Festival at Al-Farabi University

In line with Al-Nahrain University’s role in supporting innovation and student entrepreneurship, a group of distinguished students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering organized, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the First AI Developers Festival, hosted by Al-Farabi University. The event was conceptualized and supervised by the students Almoamel Abbas Fadhil, Ayham Hamed Nafi, and Mohammed Nafi Nazim, and was generously sponsored by Al-Farabi University. The festival witnessed a formal and distinguished opening ceremony, which began with the Iraqi national anthem, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of Iraq’s martyrs. This was followed by a welcoming speech delivered by the President of Al-Farabi University and the university’s senior staff. Commemorative shields were also presented to participants and speakers in appreciation of their efforts. The festival was attended by a high-level audience. The first panel discussion, titled “Artificial Intelligence in the Education Sector,” featured: The Director of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and a representative of the Council of Ministers The Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad The Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University The Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering at Al-Nahrain University In addition to a large number of academics and students specializing in and interested in artificial intelligence from various Iraqi universities. The second panel discussion focused on “Artificial Intelligence in the Private Sector,” bringing together a group of officials and professionals from the private sector to discuss challenges and practical solutions for implementing AI in real-world work environments. The festival also included specialized technical sessions that highlighted the latest concepts and applications in the field of artificial intelligence, attended by a distinguished group of experts and specialists. At the conclusion of the festival, a specialized project exhibition was inaugurated, showcasing a selection of innovative projects and practical applications developed by students of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering at Al-Nahrain University. The exhibition provided a valuable opportunity for students to present their creative capabilities to a distinguished audience of academics and professionals from both the public and private sectors. This festival represents one of the outcomes of empowering students in the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering at the College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting innovation and student creativity in modern technological fields.
