The Department of Computer Engineering at Nahrain University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Cybercrimes over the Internet,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Saif Abdul Al-Jassim, with the participation of several faculty members from the department. The workshop addressed the concept of cybercrimes, their various types, and the methods used to commit them عبر the Internet. It also highlighted the major digital threats facing individuals and institutions, as well as the methods of prevention, emphasizing the importance of security awareness and the safe use of modern technologies. The workshop witnessed active interaction from the attendees through questions and discussions that enriched the topics of the session. This initiative comes as part of the department’s efforts to enhance digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among students and to keep pace with the rapid developments in the field of information technology. The workshop also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting awareness of cybercrime risks and supporting the development of a safer and more secure digital environment for individuals and institutions.
