Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Eyad Murad Takhakh, Dean of the College of Engineering / Nahrain University, the Department of Computer Engineering, in collaboration with the National Center for Digital Transformation, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence, and the National Center for Cybersecurity at the Prime Minister’s Office, organized a scientific workshop entitled: “The Role of National Centers in Digital Transformation” on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026, at Dijlah Hall. The workshop aimed to explore the strategic role of national centers in developing digital infrastructure, enhancing artificial intelligence applications, and protecting cyberspace, contributing to the creation of a comprehensive digital ecosystem serving government institutions and society. The workshop included several sessions presented by: Dr. Ammar Hussein Al-Wasti Mr. Ali Hussein Hamdallah Dr. Raghad Nizar Hassan Directors of Data Centers, Digital Transformation, and Artificial Intelligence Centers at the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Ayman Jaber / Department of Computer Engineering The workshop was moderated by Dr. Shaimaa Waleed. The sessions emphasized opening avenues for joint cooperation between universities and national centers, while highlighting the importance of involving students and researchers in supporting national digital transformation projects. This workshop reflects the Department of Computer Engineering’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships, linking academic work with practical applications, and keeping pace with modern technological developments.
The workshop also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by enhancing digital infrastructure, supporting innovation, and promoting modern technology applications to serve society and government institutions.
