Within the activities of the Scientific Computer Engineering Department

The department held a scientific symposium entitled Qunatum Computing

And that's on Thursday, 27-4-2023

It was delivered by researcher Ali Al-Bayati from Portland State University in the United States of America

The symposium was attended by a number of faculty members from the department and the university, in addition to teachers from the University of Baghdad and students of primary and higher studies at the university.

Quantum computing is an interdisciplinary field encompassing aspects of computer science, physics, and mathematics that uses quantum mechanics with the goal of solving complex problems more quickly than conventional computers. The field of quantum computing includes research on devices and development of applications. Quantum computers are able to solve certain types of problems more quickly than conventional computers by taking advantage of quantum mechanical effects, such as superposition and quantum interference. Some of the applications where quantum computers can provide this increase in speed include machine learning (ML), machine performance improvement, and simulation of physical systems. End use cases could be portfolio performance improvement in finance or chemical systems simulation, solving problems that you find even The most powerful computers on the market are currently intractable
