Under the supervision and presence of
Professor Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, Dean of the College of Engineering at
Al-Nahrain University, and in celebration of the International Day of the
Arabic Language, the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering,
in cooperation with the Guidance and Educational Counseling unit, and the
Women's Affairs Unit in the college, has organized an educational seminar
entitled: "The Common Origins Between the Akkadian
and Arabic Languages: Lexical and Grammatical Aspects" The seminar was presented by Professor Dr.
Nawal Ahmed Al-Mutawalli on Monday, December 16, 2024, in the Dajla Hall at the
college. The seminar highlighted the common features
between the Akkadian and Arabic languages, including sentence structure,
foundational grammatical roots, and common morphological affixes. It also shed
light on how the Akkadian language directly influenced the languages of ancient
civilizations, as it was considered the diplomatic language of the era. The event was attended by a group of faculty
members, staff, and students of the college. The seminar also featured
discussions from the audience and poetic recitations by students from the
Artificial Intelligence Engineering Department: Saleh Ayman and Mohammed
Jassim.
At the end of the seminar, Assistant Professor
Dr. Mohammed Sabri, Head of the Department of Electronic and Communications
Engineering, presented a letter of acknowledgement and appreciation to
Professor Dr. Nawal Ahmed Al-Mutawalli.
