The Department of Biomedical Engineering, including faculty members and students, participated in the opening session of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering Sciences (Energy Engineering, Environment, and Climate Changes). The conference was held on May 15-16, 2024, with the first day at the Grand Conference Hall of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, and the second day at Ashur University. The opening session was attended by Professor Haider Abdul Zahid, the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, who inaugurated the session and announced the start of the conference under the theme "Towards a Green and Sustainable Environment: A Journey Towards a Bright Future for Sustainability Management." The conference featured 120 researchers representing twelve countries. It began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem, and a moment of silence to read Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq and Palestine.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering also participated by presenting various scientific contributions and patents from its faculty members. Outstanding graduation projects by fifth-year undergraduate students were showcased in the scientific exhibition held at Al-Rafidain Hall, College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, as part of the conference activities. Additionally, several faculty members, including Professor Jamal Abdul-Jabbar Hassan, Associate Professor Dr. Sadiq Jafar Abbas, Associate Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, Associate Professor Dr. Lujain Qadri, Dr. Iman Ghazban, Dr. Aseel Mohammed Ali, Dr. Mais Uday Abdulrasool, and Ms. Faten Imad Ali, participated in the patent exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated by Professor Haider Abdul Zahid, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, Professor Lubna Khamis Al-Rubaie, Director General of the Research and Development Department, Professor Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Shaawi, President of Al-Nahrain University, Professor Juma Salman Jiyad, Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The event was attended by a large gathering of deans, heads of departments, university professors, researchers, and specialists.
