As part of the scientific and cultural activities sponsored, prepared, and supported by Al-Nahrain University / College of Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering, with direct support from the Dean of the College of Engineering (Prof. Dr. Jumaa Salman), hosted a lecture in the Dijla Hall. The lecture was delivered by Visiting Professor Dr. Firas Basim Ismail, Head of the Smart Energy Generation Centre at Tenaga National University, Malaysia, on Sunday, May 12, 2024. The lecture was titled "Optimizing Energy Excellence: A workshop on power plant."

The lecture provided a detailed explanation of the importance of integrating artificial intelligence, digital simulation, and advanced software in controlling and generating electrical energy systems to achieve optimal performance and maximum operational efficiency. This includes inputting variables into a simulation program to predict faults and control them before they occur, ensuring the continuous operation of the generation system with higher efficiency and lower risks.

The lecture was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Scientific Associate Dean, the Head of the Department, along with several members from the Departments of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering. Their attendance aimed to maximize the benefits of the scientific background in integrating energy generation systems with software and artificial intelligence, highlighting its importance in scientific research and the development of the industrial sector
