Vision, Mission, and Objectives
Vision
We aspire to build a department with both local and global recognition in the fields of biomedical engineering and bioengineering by 2030. This will be achieved through the continuous pursuit of knowledge, curriculum integration, structural robustness, and competition in the comprehensive development of the department at all levels. We aim to enhance current participation in biomedical engineering research in collaboration with prestigious universities, international conferences, and global journals in the field, while adhering to the cultural, scientific, and ethical values that prevail in society across generations, contributing to sustainable development in all aspects.
Mission
The department aims to graduate engineering professionals with a Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering who are capable of managing bioengineering-related systems, equipment, and applications effectively and efficiently. They will ensure the provision of high-quality medical engineering services and collaborate with medical professionals in hospitals and healthcare centers. Moreover, the department’s graduate studies and research projects focus on conducting modern practical research, ensuring a high level of theoretical and practical research capabilities to contribute to the country’s development.
Goals
The Biomedical Engineering Program aims to graduate highly competent engineers capable of meeting the needs of the healthcare and engineering sectors by achieving the following objectives:
Ability to Analyze and Solve Engineering Problems: Students are trained to analyze and solve engineering problems through subjects like Principles of Management and Engineering Management, gaining practical skills in applying engineering methods to healthcare projects.
Mastery of Basic Sciences and Mathematics: Students are provided with foundational knowledge in mathematics, chemistry, medical physics, and tissue biology in the early stages, enabling them to understand the scientific principles required for designing and developing medical systems and devices.
Design and Development of Medical Devices: Students acquire the skills to design and manufacture medical devices and biological equipment, including prosthetic limbs, by studying subjects like experimental design, electrical circuits, and engineering drawing.
Management and Maintenance of Medical Devices: Students are trained in managing and maintaining medical devices across various healthcare departments, including operating rooms. They learn to understand technical needs and work with specialized companies to develop technical specifications for medical equipment, enabling them to make informed decisions about updating and maintaining these devices.
Quality Assurance and Engineering Measurements: Students gain the ability to perform the necessary measurements and tests while ensuring the application of quality assurance systems through courses such as medical devices, engineering statistics, and medical measurement devices.
Effective Professional Communication: Students are trained to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various administrative and professional levels through training courses, classroom activities, and summer internships, which enhance their ability to work in diverse teams.
Awareness of Professional Responsibilities and Ethics: Students develop an awareness of professional ethics through studying Professional Ethics in their fifth year, strengthening their understanding of professional responsibilities and ethical practices in the biomedical engineering field.
Self-Development and Lifelong Learning: Students are encouraged to pursue continuous self-development through educational guidance and daily interactions with faculty and the department head, ensuring they keep up with the latest advancements in the field.
Effective Teamwork and Individual Work: The program enhances students' ability to work in teams and independently by engaging them in group research and practical projects throughout their academic journey, ensuring they develop strong collaboration and independent work skills.
Practical Application in Hospitals and Healthcare Centers: Students participate in practical training in hospitals and maintenance centers during summer breaks, enabling them to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare environments.
